Mount Sopris is 12,950' and miles wide, an impressive peak at the west end of the Elk Mountains in central Colorado. This morning in early September a red barn is the only color in a landscape made white by an unusually cold storm that moved through leaving a foot of snow up higher and several inches down on the ranch. This was the first shot of a day filled with many interesting and less usual scenes for early September!
In a valley behind my place in Emma Colorado lies Mount Sopris, a near 13,000' behemoth of a mountain. It has an energy that has to be felt to be appreciated. A special place to many that live in this part of the Roaring Fork Valley, kind of an "our mountain" place. On this September 9th morning in 2020 the pandemic lost it's grip on my thoughts for a full day. I moved through the cool morning air looking for scenes of that Colorado saying "If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes". After weeks of bone dry high 80's and low 90's wow, this was great!
Any media will work for this image but I think canvas will be amazing. That red barn will pop out and the textures of mountain, snowfall and trees will sing with the texture of the canvas. Make it big if you like, this is a stitched panorama capable of handling that.
